TSCS sets a milestone, completed 2Lac blood transfusions of Thalassemia patients

While embarking on a journey to serve Thalassemia patients in the country, the Thalassemia Sickle Cell Society (TSCS), headquartered at Hyderabad, has completed the mark of two lakh blood transfusions today keeping the voyage continue with a mission to eradicate the blood sucking disease from the country soon in the years to come.

Though the Thalassemia is a genetic – which is an incurable blood disorder but can be preventable if treated well with regular medication, the TSCS is working with a commitment to eradicate Thalassemia with the help of several voluntary organizations.

The Thalassemia Sickle Cell Society (TSCS) – a registered NGO, is the only organization all over the world that serves more than 3200 registered patients under one roof. It was founded in the year 1998 with the help of a small like minded group of patient’s parents, doctors, well-wishers and philanthropists dedicated to provide best treatment and management to patients suffering from Thalassemia and Sickle Cell Anemia.

Thalassemia patients, mostly children, get state-of-the-art treatment at this health care facility. While blood transfusions are carried out here round the clock, surgeries like Bone Marrow Transplant (BMT) – which is very expensive and the only treatment to deal with Thalassemia, is being done free of cost with the support extended by the donors under CSR activities. Even the Telangana government is buttressing support to the treatment under Aarogyasri scheme.

On the occasion of completing the mark of two lakh blood transfusions today, Chandrakant Agarwal, the TSCS President said, “We are happy to announce the achievement of completing 2 lakh blood transfusions today with the help of the donors which is a new milestone. This commitment has really helped us save the lives of a myriad number of Thalassemia patients.  On behalf of the entire TSCS team, we would like to thank each and every person who has come forward voluntarily for donating blood. At the same time, we are looking forward to similar generous support from the donors even in the future to realise the dream of making the country ‘Thalassemia free’ in the years to come.”
