Two sentenced to 3-year RI for rape attempt

Hyderabad: IX Additional District & Sessions Judge at LB Nagar R. Raghunath Reddy on Tuesday convicted and sentenced two accused to undergo three years rigorous imprisonment and to pay fine of Rs 1,000 each. The accused Pillanagrovi Hari, 27, of Vanasthalipuram and Koppula Hemanth, 25, of Shamshir Bagh, Kachiguda were held guilty of trespassing into the house of the 13-year old minor girl and committed the heinous crime.

According to the prosecution, on April 10, 2014 night, when the 13-years-old victim was alone at her house, both the accused entered the house from the rear side and caught and misbehaved with the girl. The duo fled the scene on seeing the sister of the victim. On a complaint, the accused were arrested and sent to judicial custody.

B. Sanjeevulu, SI of Sanathnagar PS, investigated the case and filed a charge-sheet in the court. After the trial, the accused were held guilty of the crime and sentenced to a 3-year jail term and fine of Rs 1,000 each under Section 354(A) IPC & Sec 7 R/w 8 of POCSO Act.
