Tyre Godown catches fire, building razed to extinguish inferno

Hyderabad: A major fire broke out at a Tyres’ godown at Vanasthalipuram on Sunday evening. The incident took place around 5 pm near Sushma Theatre. On receiving information, three fire tenders rushed to the spot and extinguished the fire. On hearing the news, Mayor Dr. Bonthu Rammohan visited the spot and supervised the operations.

Even after three fire tenders pressed into action, the fire could not be brought under control. The firefighters sought the help of DRF Team of GHMC. Director Vishwajit rushed 50-member squad to the spot and helped the fire team to control fire.

As the godown had some 6,000 tires, the fire could not be brought under control. The Mayor discussed the situation with officials Fire Department, Traffic Police, HMWS&SB and Electricity department and decided to raze the structure as the fire was still engulfing the area. With the deployment of JCBs and Hitachi Machinery, the structure was razed to the ground and the fire came under control.

The authorities also asked those staying in neighboring houses to vacate their houses temporarily, till the flames were brought under control. The entire 12-hour operation was done under the supervision of Mayor Bonthu Rammohan.
