Under-construction Bairamalguda Flyover in Hyderabad Collapses, Injuring Workers: Investigation Underway

A section of an under-construction Bairamalguda flyover in Hyderabad fell in the early hours of Wednesday, injuring eight workers. One of those injured is in critical condition. The incident occurred at a traffic crossroads on Sagar Ring Road near where the flyover is being constructed.

The tragedy happened as workmen were placing slabs over the pillars, according to the police. An engineer and seven workers were hurt and were transferred to KIMS Hospital right away. The injured workers were named as Rohit Kumar, Puneeth Kumar, Shankar Lal, and Jitender from Uttar Pradesh and Bihar.

A tiny piece of the ramp fell during the slab laying procedure, according to LB Nagar Assistant Commissioner of Police (ACP) Sridhar Reddy. A case has been opened, and an investigation is currently proceeding. The ACP stated that because the building work was still under progress, no action could be taken against the contractor for inadequate quality.

D. S. Chuhan, Rachakonda Police Commissioner, and LB Nagar DCP Sai Sri visited the accident site, and local MLA Sudheer Reddy met with the workers. Opposition leaders from the Congress and BJP said that the catastrophe was caused by poor workmanship and incompetence.

The Greater Hyderabad Municipal Corporation (GHMC) responded to the incident on Twitter, stating that the situation is under control and that appropriate action will be taken if necessary.
