Unhappy Wakf Board seek repatriation of Incharge CEO Shahnawaz Qasim

Unhappy with the way the Incharge CEO is performing his duty, the Telangana State Wakf Board today returned his services to the government with a request to appoint a new and full time CEO to ensure smooth functioning of the affairs in the board.

In a second meeting in a series this year after the formation of new board management, the members unanimously passed a resolution seeking repatriation of Incharge CEO Shahnawaz Qasim’s service and urged the government to appoint the new one as soon as possible.

“A general body meeting has been convened today to approve agendas that include seeking appointment of full time CEO inplace of the present Incharge CEO Shahnawaz Qasim. A resolution seeking repatriation of Incharge CEO was also passed during the meeting and communicated the same to the government,” informed Muhammed Masiullahkhan, the Chairman Telangana State Wakf Board.

The board, he further said, has also decided to entrust the temporary charge of incharge CEO to DSP Wakf Board Khaja Moinuddin till the time  the government appoints a full time Chief of the Wakf Board. The board has fervently requested the government to appoint a full time CEO that helps the board perform the affairs smoothly.

“Neither the Incharge CEO is coming to the office regularly nor the issues and grievances are being taken seriously at the Wakf Board. Apart from his full time job as Director Minority Welfare, he was also conferred with the charge of Incharge CEO Wakf Board, Incharge Director Urdu Academy and Incharge Director Minority Finance Corporation. This may be the primary reason that he may not have been doing proper justice to the post of Incharge CEO Wakf Board. Needless to say what cost the Wakf Board  has paid during the last four years given the number of cases the board has lost in various courts,” rued Syed Iftekhar Hussaini, a city based Wakf Activist.

As per a conservative estimation, he further said, the wakf board has lost around 3500 acres  of its prime land worth million of rupees to the encroachers since 2018.

“As a result of non-releasing of funds to the minority institutions since 2019, the State Minority Finance Corporation and the Urdu Academy became defunct bodies. Besides both the institutions are being run under the supervision of single chairmen without a governing body to operate properly. Though the chief minister announced time and again to make the minority institutions fully functional in the state, the ground reality is completely the other way around,” bemoaned Iftekhar.
