Telangana Pradesh congress committee president and Nalgonda MP Uttam Kumar reddy on Saturday appealed to the party leaders and workers to take up relief works on a large scale for the covid patients of the state immediately.
In a statement, he said that all India congress committee president Sonia Gandhi and former president and mp Rahul Gandhi have instructed the party leaders and workers to help the covid patients in view of the prevailing crisis arising out of the covid pandemic.

Holding the central and state government solely responsible for the present severe crisis, Uttam said that the covid second wave has been spreading in the country with lightning speed due to lack of their foresight. The central and state governments did not heed the advice of the scientists, health experts, and opposition leaders on the spread of second wave of covid in the country and neglected the preventive measures. Due to their negligence, the country was made to hang its head in shame before the world.
Criticizing the BJP and TRS governments at the center and state levels for fishing in the troubled waters by holding elections during the pandemic period, he said that every day more than 4 lakh new positive cases have been recorded and more than 4000 are dying. Due to the election politics of BJP and TRS coronavirus has spread with lightning speed endangering the lives of crores of people.
Ridiculing the statements of chief secretary Somesh Kumar that the covid situation was under control in the state, Uttam said that there was no similarity between the statistics being stated by the government and the actual numbers.

The number of positive cases and death has been underreported. The state government has been misleading the people by reducing the number of tests thereby showing less fewer of cases. There are doubts over the number of deaths being stated by the government. They may be much high than claimed.
Reddy made it clear that the central and state governments have miserably failed in controlling the covid in the country and in the state. Due to this covid patients were unable to get beds in the hospitals and thousands are losing lives because of lack of oxygen.
“apart from this, a severe shortage of remdesivir injections and ventilators is taking the toll on the lives of covid patients. Taking this as an advantage private medical mafia has been fleecing the people with lakhs rupees,” Uttam said.
He informed that treatment to covid patients has been provided at free of cost in the neighboring and other states. Congress has been demanding the state government to add covid treatment to arogyasri so that treatment could be provided free of cost.

He appealed that in these testing times all the leaders and workers of congress should be with the people and help them to get oxygen, remdisivir injections, and beds in hospitals. Congress workers and leaders should create confidence among the people in these hours of crisis. Congress leaders and workers should strive to come to the rescue of the people.
