Uttam Kumar Reddy Inspects Paddy Procurement Centers

Congress party MP Uttam Kumar Reddy today visited several PACS and IKP paddy procurement centers in the Suryapet district and interacted with several farmers who had brought their paddy procurement.

Speaking on the occasion, He said that prime minister Narendra Modi and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao governments had miserably failed in the timely procurement of paddy at MSP of Rs 1960 per quintal.

He also said that BJP and TRS parties were playing dramas and added that the paddy farmers in Telangana had been left to the mercy of the rice millers.  “Due to the delay in Kharif paddy procurement and unseasonal rains in many parts of the state, the paddy was drenched and now the IKP centers, PACS centers, and rice millers are refusing the paddyCongress with moisture content.

Rice millers are unauthorisedly deducting 3 or 4 kgs on the basis of waste and moisture content.  Why KCR talking of rabi crop when the task at hand is to immediately procure Kharif paddy?,” He asked the CM. Reddy doubted that KCR was colluding with the rice millers to benefit them and cause a loss to the paddy farmers.  He said that the Congress party would fight for the paddy farmers till every grain was procured at MSP of Rs. 1960 per quintal.

He demanded the state government that no restrictions on paddy cultivation in rabi crop should be kept by it. He said that  If KCR wants to declare a crop holidays for paddy farmers in rabi, he should pay compensation of Rs. 25,000 per acre.
