Warangal: GWMC directs officials to speed up works taken up under ‘Smart City Mission’

Mayor Gundu Sudharani and Greater Warangal Municipal Corporation (GWMC) Commissioner P Pravinya have instructed officials to speed up and complete the ongoing development work taken up under the ‘Smart City Mission’ within the GWMC limits as soon as possible.

A review meeting was held on Wednesday to review the progress of the central sponsored scheme. According to them, 66 development works worth Rs 948.55 crore have been undertaken so far. “Of which 27 have already been completed, and the remaining 39 are in different stages of progress,” the commissioner said, and asked the officials to complete them by July.

The Mayor says that a statue of freedom fighter Konda Laxman Bapuji and a replica of a loom should be installed at Kothawada junction as part of the junction development program.

Also, officials have been instructed to monitor the progress of ongoing development works on a daily basis. Among the works are the Waddepally tank bund development works, the Bhadrakali Bund Zone ‘D’, and the R1 to R10 Smart City roads. The urban planning authorities have emphasized the importance of coordinating the widening of roads, arranging culverts on the nalas, and other related work.
