Telangana Fisheries Minister Talasani Srinivas Yadav today said the State government was encouraging pisciculture in a big way in the State.
Replying to questions raised by the members in the Assembly, the minister said they were taking steps not only to enhance the livelihood opportunities of the fishermen but also increase the production of the fish. He said they were encouraging prawn production in a big way. He also said they were implementing Group Accident Insurance Scheme for the fishermen community.

Alleging that the rulers of erstwhile Andhra Pradesh State did not care the fishermen’s community, he said they had decided to encourage them after the formation of the Telangana State. He also said they had created livelihood and employment opportunities to fishermen after coming to power. He said they had taken up the distribution of the fish seed to the fishermen and made the State No 1 in the production of the fish. He also said they had distributed 150 mobile vehicles for providing marketing opportunities to the fishermen.
