We Have Bought 60 Lakh Metric Tonnes of Food Grains So Far : Srinivas Reddy

The Telangana State Civil Supplies Corporation Chairman M. Srinivas Reddy toss said that they had bought 60 lakh metric tonnes of food grains from the farmers of the state so far.

He made these remarks during a review meeting held on the issue of the purchase of the food grains, gunny bags, Payment of support price with the officials of his department. The review was held on all the subjects.

Speaking to media persons later, he said that the paddy was cultivated in 52.76 lakh acres of land and added that the farmers for 25 quintals of yield per acre. He said that the state had produced 1.29 crore metric tonnes of the paddy during the just concluded rabi season. He said that they had fixed a target of procuring 80 lakh metric tonnes of the paddy from the farmers and added that the procurement of the food grains was going on as per their expectations. He said that they were carrying out the procurement process without creating any problems for the farmers as per the directions of the chief minister of the state KCR. Reddy said that they had procured 60.50 lakh metric tonnes of food grains worth Rs.11,414 crore from 8.82 lakh farmers of the state and added that they had completed 76 percent of the target. He said that they were able to procure only 52.73 lakh metric tonnes of the food grains during the same period last year.

Reddy informed that they had closed down 656 procurement centers from 12 districts of the state following the completion of the procurement process. The names of these districts are Nizamabad, Nirmal, Manchiryala, Kamareddy, Karimnagar, Jagitiyala, Siricilla, Peddapalle Nalgonda Suryapeta, Yadadri, and Wanaparthy districts.
