Whether I have a baby Boy or Girl, it doesn’t matter: Sania Mirza

Titled #MujheHaqHai, the film features women achievers like Mithali Raj, Sania Mirza, Aishwarya Rai Bachchan, PT Usha, Tajamul Islam (a nine year old World Kickboxing Champion), Apurva Purohit (president, Jagran Group) and the all women team that manages the Matunga Railway station in Mumbai among others. The idea through the film is to inspire and motivate other women to follow the path of these achievers.

UN Women India has collaborated with WeSchool and Business of Ideas to launch a campaign that celebrates Indian women.

“I believe that feminism is not just about women, but about gender equality”, “Whether I have a baby Boy or Girl, it doesn’t matter. What matters is that I raise my child to think of themselves as equal to everyone else” Sania Mirza said during the launch of MujheHaqHai gender equality UN Women India’s programme.

Sania, who is pregnant, revealed that her husband wants a girl. “And a secret is that my husband wants a girl very badly,” she said.

Kashmiri girl Tajamul Islam, who won the World Kick-boxing championship in 2016, also attended the event.
