WHO To Conduct The Final Risk Assessment Soon

As per the latest reports, the WHO’s Technical Advisory group in a meeting said that they would be conducting the final risk assessment to decide on the approval of Covaxin. This comes after they received the additional data from the manufacturer.

Covid 19 May Have Killed More Than 80,000 Healthcare Workers

This comes after the WHO head Tedros Adhanom Ghebreyesus recently made statement regarding the unfairness in the distribution of vaccines. Meanwhile, other WHO official warned that lack of vaccine doses may extend the pandemic to the next year as well.

Tedros said that there are around as per the data received from 119 countries, two in five healthcare workers are fully vaccinated.

At the same time, he added that the average score tends to mask the differences across different regions and economic groupings. Fewer than one in 10 healthcare workers were fully vaccinated in Africa.

In the statement, he further added that a failure to provide the poorer countries with enough vaccines was highlighted earlier by Dr Bruce Aylward, a senior leader at the WHO. Less than 5% of Africa’s population have been vaccinated compared with 40% on most other continents.
