“Will not allow CAA and NRC to implement in West Bengal” Mamata Banerjee

Lashing out vehemently at arch rival BJP for using the draconian laws like CAA and NRC to gain political mileage, Chief Minister West Bengal Mamta Banerjee said, “The move of saffron party to raise the issue of CAA and NRC was aimed at ongoing assembly elections in Gujarat. However, what may come, the Citizenship Amendment Act (CAA) and National Registration of Citizens (NRC) will not be allowed to be implemented here in West Bengal.”

The TMC leader was addressing a gathering at Krishna Nagar in Kolkata on Wednesday.

“Whenever the bugle of election blows, the BJP starts beating the drums of CAA and NRC to woo the voters as part of its polarisations plan,” she said adding that “As the state of Gujarat is also going to witness the assembly elections soon this year and Lok Sabha elections too were proposed in a year or a next, the BJP starts blowing the trumpet of CAA and NRC again. Who is the BJP to decide who is the citizen of the country and who is not? Everyone belongs to Mitwa Samaj is the citizen of this country”

While blaming that the saffron party is trying to divide Bengal through fanning the separatism in the state, the TMC leader reiterates that, “She will never ever allow the division of the state.”

“BJP is fomenting separatism in West Bengal by inciting Gorkhas and Rajbanshis in the Northern areas. We will never ever allow anyone to divide West Bengal,” she said.

Claiming that the BJP will never come to power after 2024 Lok Sabha elections, Mamata Banerjee said, “The situation was quite different in the year 2019 when the BJP rose to power but it was completely changed. Although the saffron party came to power in the states like Bihar and Jharkhand etc., in 2019, it has almost lost much of the areas under its sway. This is the reason the BJP is targeting its opposition in different states and trapping their leaders one after another,” maintained Mamata.
