With no fresh rains in city, life limping back to normalcy

After lashing the city and suburban areas for almost two weeks, the silver line has finally appeared amidst clouds over the horizon as no fresh rains were recorded during the last 24 hours.

According to official statistics, out of 16 mandals where the Automated Weather Stations (AWSs) are located, seven of them such as Nampally, Khairatabad, Asifnagar, Bahadurpura, Bandlaguda, Charminar and Saidabad received light rainfall while remaining nine areas like Shaikpet, Ameerpet, Secunderabad, Tirumalgiri, Maredpally, Musheerabad, Amberpet, Himayatnagar, and Golkonda saw no fresh showers since Tuesday morning.

While alone Saidabad has cumulatively received large excess of showers, 12 areas like Shaikpet, Ameerpet, Secunderabad, Tirumalgiri, Maredpally, Musheerabad, Amberpet, Nampally, Khairatabad, Asifnagar, Bandlaguda and Charminar received excess rainfall. The three areas such as Himayathnagar, Golkoda and Bahadurpura got normal rains during the same period.

With this the district average comes down to 0.3 mm as against 2.4mm normal rainfall.

The state received an average rainfall of 1.9 mm as against 3.0 normal showers on September 29. While the Devarkadra area in Mahbubnagar district has received 24.8 mm rainfall, the districts such as Narayanpet, Mahabubnagar, Rangareddy, Khammam, Kumuram Bheem, Nirmal and Jagtial received moderate rainfall from 15.6 to 64.4 mm between Tuesday to Wednesday. Other areas of the state, except Jayashankar, Siddipet and Mahabubnagar, received light rainfall from 2.5 to 15.5mm during the same period.

While the GHMC area cumulatively received rainfall of 751.9mm from June 1 to September 29 as against the normal 568.3mm with 32 percent deviation, the entire state cumulative assessment during the same period square off to 1009.5 mm as against the normal 714.7 mm with 41 percent of deviation.
