Worker’s livelihood has been affected by the Centre, says Harish Rao

In a statement on Tuesday, Finance Minister T Harish Rao blamed the Central government for affecting the livelihoods of MGNREGA workers.

In order to improve the welfare and well-being of workers, Rao said, the State government came up with several schemes. Many workers lost their jobs when the Centre limited their employment to just 20 jobs.

Many rural workers in the State lost their jobs and their financial situation was affected by the decision of the State’s government. As part of the MGNREGA scheme, the State government passed a resolution tying it to agriculture.

An Assembly resolution in this regard was passed by Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao and forwarded to the Central government. A weakening of the scheme by the Central government affected many workers’ livelihoods.
