Workshop On Goods & Services Tax (GST) Held

Hyderabad: Confederation of Indian Industry (CII) organized a Workshop on Goods & Services Tax (GST) here on Thursday 22.CII has embarked upon the task of enabling a seamless and efficient transition of the industry to the GST system. As a part of this initiative, Workshops are held in various cities to help the industry cope with the evolving tax system.

The inaugural session of the Workshop was graced by J Laxminarayana, Additional Commissioner State Tax, Commercial Taxes Department, Government of Telangana and M K Patodia, Past Chairman – CII Andhra Pradesh and Chairman & Managing Director, GTN Engineering India Ltd.  Laxminarayana highlighted the tremendous coordination and support extended by trade bodies including CII in the successful GST implementation in Telangana with the state being one of the very few which hasn’t received GST compensation. He also responded to queries from the audience. M K Patodia stated that the Indian model of dual GST is truly unique in the world with the country’s federal structure ensuring the smooth transition. He brought up the call for the next version of GST which was initiated by Vikram Kirloskar, CII President a few months back.

The workshop equipped the participants with practical and updated knowledge to spot GST issues and to take the appropriate steps to resolve them in a timely and effective manner.
The workshop led by experts from KPMG and ClearTax covered topics including Valuation under GST, e-way bill – practical issues, Input Tax Credit, New GST Returns, GST Annual Return & Audit report. It was attended by around 70 participants from various companies across the industry. (NSS)
