World Glucoma Day Rally Held in Hyd

World Glucoma day was observed at the Sarojini Devi Eye Hospital here with the Minister for Medical and Health T Harish Rao, as chief guest.

‘Sunday march’ rally was flagged off by the minister as part of the week-long celebrations, aimed at creating awareness among people on Glucoma.

Speaking on the occasion, Harish Rao said that worldwide, three percent people above 40 years with BP and sugar are affected by Glucoma and 10 percent of them were losing eye sight. Hence, there was a need for people to get awareness about glaucoma and undergoing eye test every year. He said shortly a review meeting will be held on the working of Sarojinidevi eye hospital.

The Minister said the credit for undertaking the unique ‘kanti velugu’ program in the state went to chief minister KCR and the Telangana government. During the five months program, 1.50 crore people were benefitted from the program. He also said that deliveries in Government hospitals increased considerably following the introduction of the ‘KCR kit’. He pointed out that health and medical employees did laudable work during Corona and some people lost their lives. Rs. 45 crore was paid to the families of health personnel who lost their lives.

The minister handed over  insurance cheque for ₹.50 lakhs to the family members of ANM varalakshmi who passed away while extending services during corona.
