In the latest update, Youth Akali Dal leader Vicky Middukhera was shot dead in Mohali, Punjab.
Police Suspects Gang War
As per the latest reports, the incident happened in the broad daylight. The police said that they are not ruling out the possibility of a gang war that might have resulted in the crime. They further informed that four armed men had fired around 10 bullets at the leader in the Section 71 area.
The bullets killed him on the spot and the crime was caught in CCTV camera footage.
In the video received from the surveillance footage, the victim was seen running away from the spot when the two men fired at him. The assailants were seen to be waiting in the car parked near the victim’s vehicle.
The police further informed that the as the victim came out of the office of property consultant in a posh market. Following this, he was about to sit in his car, and the assailants started to shoot him. The victim came out of the vehicle and started to run to save himself from the bullets. However, the attackers chased him to a distance.
The victim was taken to a nearby hospital.
Investigation Is Underway
A case of murder has been registered at the Mataur Police Station. The police are currently suspecting old rivalry as well. Currently, they have impounded the SUV and recovered empty cartridges from the site.
Vicky Middhukhera was a student leader and the president of the Students Organisations of Panjab University, Chandigarh. He was in the SOPU in 2007 and 2008. Later, he joined the SAD’s students wing in 2013. Till 2020, he was also in charge of the SOI’s Chandigarh Unit.
