19-yr old tries to open fake SBI branch, arrested.

With growing cases of people losing their jobs amid the coronavirus pandemic, a man has been found to partake in illegal ways to deduce income. A 19-year old man was arrested after police sniffed his attempt to open a fake SBI branch in Tamil Nadu.

The incident took place in Panruti, 25 kilometers from Tamil Nadu, where the man, son of two retired SBI employees got made fake seals and challans from local printers to kickstart his “new venture” along with a cash counting machine to make his false public sector lender branch seem more authentic but hadn’t put up a signboard yet.

He transformed the upper floor of his residence in Panruti into the bank branch where he set up the machines and was ready to open the same soon.

However, he failed at his efforts to do so when a customer of the original SBI branch of Panruti complained about it to the bank manager.

The police was informed of this crime by the manager and quick action was taken. The teenager was arrested on the basis of forgery and counterfeit after interrogation.

Accused’s late father was an annex-SBI employee and his mother had retired from her position there a while ago. Hence, he was well versed with the functioning of a bank branch.

Due to the loss of finances and an inability to work in a bank, the young man chose this illegal way and carried out his motives.

According to an inspector, his mother, who has restricted movement due to old-age, has denied any previous knowledge about her son’s attempts. Another female relative who lives in their home also said that she had “no idea” regarding it.

Investigations revealed that he aimed to work at a bank as he was very “knowledgeable” about it, watching the operations closely.

However, upon questioning, his replies were found to be quite childish, giving off hints of his unintelligence in the sector. This did not stand in line with his “excellent understanding” of banking processes as he had claimed.

The inspector further said, “He even calmly told us that he awaited approval from Mumbai to open the (SBI) branch and that he was about to put up a signboard.”

He added that the teen had urged the bank to recruit him as an employee on humanitarian grounds after the death of his father but was denied the same. The man is now arrested and the case will be heard in the court of law soon.

Many youngsters of the country are getting debunked trying to either furnish fake education documents or set up illegal government or private offices to loot people of their money. They find this to be an easier approach but do not understand the consequences that might follow while attempting to take this route.
