Hyderabad: The City Traffic Police was continuing its drive against the drunken drivers to ensure road safety. In the month of April, the cops caught 2,282 drivers, who were driving the vehicles in drunken condition. Charge sheets were filed against them and were produced in the III and IV Metropolitan Magistrate Courts, Nampally.
The Metropolitan Magistrate Courts awarded imprisonment to 498 offenders and cancelled/suspended driving licenses of 167 people. The courts also imposed a fine of Rs 49,64,400 against traffic violators. All the violators were sentenced imprisonment and sent to Chanchalguda Jail. (NSS)
