4 doctors arrested for theft of medical equipment

Four doctors from Varanasi have landed in jail for their involvement in the theft of advanced medical equipment worth over Rs 20 lakhs from a hospital to upgrade their establishments located on the city’s outskirts.

The accused took the help of the nursing staff of a prominent hospital in the city to procure advanced BiPap, electrocardiography (ECG), arterial blood gas (ABG) analyzer, and infusions machines, stolen from a city hospital.

All the five, including the hospital staffer, have been arrested and sent to jail. Police have seized 14 infusion machines with 10 cables, six BiPap, one ECG, and one ABG machine.

The cost of the recovered equipment has been estimated as over Rs 20 lakh and all four doctors have been arrested said, Deputy Commissioner of Police Kashi zone, R.S. Gautam.

Earlier in corona crisis Cracking its whip on the people involved in preparing false Covid reports, the Delhi police said it had arrested five people, including a doctor, from the Malviya Nagar area for preparing Covid reports using forged means.

Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP), South Delhi, Atul Bhatia said that police have arrested Praganand aka Nihal, Himanshu Sharma, Dr. Manish Kumar Singh, Satender, and Nikhil in connection with the case.

The DCP said that the police had received a PCR call on Thursday wherein it was mentioned that the Genestrings lab in Malviya Nagar was involved in preparing fake Covid reports.
