A grand Bonalu celebration is set to take place in Hyderabad’s Old City

It is anticipated that the Hyderabad will experience grand Bonalu celebrations after two years of relatively quiet ceremonies owing to the pandemic.

It is reported that the Bhagyanagar Sri Mahankali Jathara BonaluUtsavala Ummidi Devalayala Uregimpu Committee will start preparing for Bonalu this month-end. From June 30 (Thursday), the Bonalu festivities will begin.

There will be a first bonam offered to Jagadambika Ammavru at Golkonda Fort. On July 25, a large procession from various temples to Nayapul will conclude the festivities. This year’s Old City festival will feature grand celebrations, according to the committee responsible for organizing it.

On July 15, ‘Kalasha Sthapana’ will be performed in all temples of the Old City, according to Rakesh Tiwari. On July 17, there will be a Samuhika Ghata Sthapana. At 4 pm, a large ghatam procession will take place from Sri Kashi Vishwanath Temple, Shalibanda.

Members of the committee announced that Sri Kanaka Durga Temple, Vijayawada, will offer silk clothes to eight major temples in Old City on July 22. Old City’s Bonlau festival takes place on July 24, when women offer Bonam to Ammavaru.

Silk clothes would also be offered to major temples by several ministers. In order to secure funding for the Bonalu, the committee members have planned to meet with State ministers in Golkonda on June 30 and July 3, Secunderabad on July 14 and Old City on July 24.

The temple committees have been asked to bring their concerns to their attention. 98490-55550 was given as a contact number for temple committees. The members said division committees had been formed to deal with any kind of temple issues.
