Hyderabad: AIMIM (All India Majlis-e-Ittehad-ul-Muslimeen) President Asaduddin Owaisi underlined the necessity for a genuine third alternative to the existing parties BJP and Congress in Indian politics. He was skeptical of the India National Developmental Inclusive Alliance (INDIA) as an alternative.
“The Congress ruled the country for 50 years and the BJP for nearly 18 years,” the Hyderabad MP said during a press conference. Aside from the BJP and the Congress, the country requires a third government. Only something truly positive can happen in this country.”
Owaisi underlined that AIMIM will not support INDIA, referring to it as a group of influential leaders. He went on to say that other parties, including Mayawati’s Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP), KCR’s Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS), and parties from Assam, Rajasthan, and other states, are not affiliated with INDIA.

He questioned INDIA’s purpose and chastised the Congress for assisting the BJP government in strengthening the UAPA (Unlawful Activities (Prevention) Act, which resulted in the incarceration of numerous people. Owaisi warned Telangana Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao not to underestimate his powers.
Owaisi praised KCR for solving Telangana issues such as farmer suicides, water scarcity, and power outages. He complimented the BRS government for efforts such as the Shadi Mubarak program and residential educational institutes for Muslim students, as well as the repair of a mosque destroyed during the construction of the new State Secretariat.
While emphasizing that AIMIM will support beneficial government measures, Owaisi confirmed that his party would compete in elections against BRS and try to win in areas where AIMIM candidates are fielded.
