Akali Dal-BSP Stage Protest Against Punjab Health Minister Over Covid Vaccinations Scam

Amidst the coronavirus and the second wave, Sukhbir Badal, President of the Shiromani Akali Dal has been detailed by the Punjab police. Along with him, many other legislators and leaders have also been detained on Tuesday.

Akali Dal-BSP Demand Dismissal of Punjab Health Minister

The detention by the Punjab police comes after the accused were marching towards the residence of the Chief Minister of Punjab Amarinder Singh to lodge their protest. Both Akali Dal and BSP are demanding the dismissal of Health Minister Balbir Sindhu. They also demand CBI investigation for the sale of vaccines and medical kits for the Covid 19 patients.

Talking to the media, Badal said that there is a scam going on regarding the Covid 19 vaccination. He said that there is a scam in the Fateh Kit, SC Scholarship.

During the protest, the police arrested several other protesters. Following which the police used water cannons against them as they walked towards the Chief Minister’s farmhouse at Siswan, on the outskirts of Chandigarh, and sent them to the nearby police station.

The Akali workers were joined by the BSP workers as they forge an alliance ahead of the 2022 Assembly Elections. Bahujan Samaj Party (BSP) state president Jasbir Singh Garhi was also detained from the protest site along with Akali legislators, including Bikram Singh Majithia.

Aam Aadmi Party Stages Protests Against Alleged Dalit Scholarship Scam Aam

Aadmi Party workers and leaders on Monday staged a protest close to the official residence of Punjab Chief Minister Amarinder Singh against alleged irregularities in the post-matric scholarship scheme for Dalit students.

AAP’s Harpal Singh Cheema, the Leader of the Opposition in the Punjab Assembly led the protesters, who were prevented from reaching the CM’s residence.
Cheema alleged that the Congress government had squandered huge amounts of money meant for scholarships of two lakh Dalit students, jeopardising their future.
