A horrifying video has emerged showing Anganwadi instructors in Adilabad physically assaulting a female Sub-Inspector (SI) during a demonstration calling for a pay raise.
The event occurred on Wednesday, September 20, and has prompted worries about the persistent problems that Anganwadi employees confront.
Anganwadi centers are rural childcare facilities that were developed by the Indian government as part of the Integrated Child Development Services program in 1975. In India, they want to address child hunger and malnutrition.
Anganwadi instructors and assistants in Adilabad have been campaigning for wage hikes, vacancy filling, and funding allocation for a long time. Frustrated by the Collectorate’s failure to respond to their requests, they decided to protest and called for a siege.
When the demonstrators attempted to enter the Collectorate, tensions escalated. Police were sent in to contain the situation, but a fight broke out between the demonstrators and the officers. During this scuffle, a female SI was dragged by her hair as she sought to keep the demonstrators from entering the Collectorate.
Despite this, the lady cop immediately regained her calm and returned to her job. The demonstrators were brought to the local police station following the confrontation.

Despite being detained by police, the demonstrators continued to demonstrate and conveyed their displeasure with the state administration, led by Chief Minister K. Chandrasekhar Rao (KCR). They claim that their requests are being disregarded.
The state government recently announced that the retirement age for Anganwadi staff will be 65 years old. It was also claimed that retired teachers will receive Rs 1 lakh in financial aid and support pensions, while assistants would receive Rs 50,000.
However, Anganwadi staff are still unhappy with the decision. They want a minimum pay of Rs 26,000, retirement benefits of Rs 10 lakh for teachers and Rs 5 lakh for assistants, and pensions equal to half of their salaries when they retire. In addition, they want the retirement age lowered to 60 years old, as well as health cards and paid leave for all Anganwadi employees.
