Haryana’s Health Minister Anil Vij tested positive for the novel coronavirus on Saturday after two weeks of a trial vaccine shot of Bharat Biotech’s Covaxin. The 67-year-old BJP veteran is diabetic patients and had volunteered to play a part in the vaccine’s human phase trials, in which over 25,000 persons were applied for trial doses. Haryana’s Health Minister Vij tweeted “I have been tested Corona positive.” Minister Vij is admitted to a civil hospital, Ambala Cant. The health department stated that Minister Vij was under intensive care before testing positive.
The vaccine’s human phase trials began on November 20, Minister Anil Vij was the first participant in Haryana to take part in the vaccine’s human phase trials.
With the exception of Minister Vij, over 400 persons from Haryana, including Dr. OP Kalra PGIMS’(Post Graduate Institute of Medical Sciences) Vice-Chancellor, too participated in the third phase human trials and appeared for vaccine shot.
A team of Rohtak PGIMS had administered the vaccine to Minister Vij at Ambala Cantonment’s civil hospital. His health and essential were surveilling on a weekly basis. Minister Vij had been visiting his office at Haryana Civil Secretariat routinelysince November 20. Three days earlier, Minister Vij had met Manohar Lal Khattar chief minister of Haryana, and other top bureaucrats. He also met Baba Ramdev the yoga guru and both had shared pictures hugging each other on social media.
After getting Covaxin’s trial shot for Covid-19, Minister Vij stated “It is a matter of pride for every Indian, that Bharat Biotech is coming up with an indigenous vaccine for Covid-19”. He also said, “I have full faith in the proficiency and ability of our doctors.
