Apple’s AirPods Production Set to Begin at Foxconn’s Hyderabad Factory

Apple, the maker of iPhones, is preparing to begin manufacturing of its popular wireless earbuds, AirPods, at Foxconn’s Hyderabad factory, according to trustworthy sources. Foxconn has approved a $400 million investment in its Hyderabad plant, with mass production set to begin in December 2024.

According to an insider, “AirPods will be manufactured at the Foxconn Hyderabad factory.” The plant is scheduled to start mass production in December.” Another individual with knowledge of the issue verified this development.

Apple and Foxconn were both sought for comment, but no official answer has yet been received.With the addition of AirPods to the production roster, it becomes the second product category, after iPhones, to be produced in India.

The global TWS (true wireless stereo) market is dominated by Apple’s AirPods. According to Canalys, a research organization, they owned roughly 36% of the market share in the fourth quarter of 2022. Samsung came in second with a 7.5% market share, followed by Xiaomi with 4.4%, Boat with 4%, and Oppo with 3%.

Xiaomi has also begun production of its TWS products in India, with production beginning this year at the Optiemus Electronics plant in Noida.
