As a result of Telangana’s development, other states are demanding mergers: KTR

People in neighboring Maharashtra and Karnataka are demanding the merger of their villages with Telangana after being impressed by the state’s welfare and development programs, said IT Minister KT Rama Rao on Tuesday.

“As many as 14 villages from Maharashtra now want to get merged with Telangana. Similarly, people in Raichur apart from an MLA and Minister from Karnataka too have demanded merger with Telangana,” said Rama Rao, who was inaugurating a newly constructed Kasturba Gandhi Balika Vidyalaya at Rudrangi in the Vemulawada constituency. It was built at a cost of Rs 3.50 crore.

Speaking to the public on the occasion, the Minister stated that Telangana’s welfare programs, such as Aasara pensions, Rythu Bandhu, Rythu Bima, and 24 hour free power supply to the farming community, were not replicated in any other state in the country.

Telangana may be the only state that provides Aasara pensions to the elderly, differently-abled, widows, single women, HIV-infected, filaria-infected (Grade 2-3), handloom weavers, toddy tappers, and Beedi workers.

Pensions were extended to 26 lakh people in 2014, and the number has now been increased to 46 lakh people, with the pension amount increased to Rs.2,000. Similarly, the Rythu Bandhu assistance of Rs.65,000 crore was previously extended to 66 lakh farmers. This season, Rythu Bandhu will be extended beginning next Wednesday, and farmers will be offered Rs.7,600 crore, he said.

“Unfortunately, all these works were not being noticed by the opposition parties. All they did was abuse and curse Chief Minister K Chandrashekhar Rao. Irrespective of their charges, you people should save him from their curses and bless him wholeheartedly,” the Minister said, adding that if the opposition parties were truly committed to Telangana’s welfare, they should prevail on their leadership and assist in the implementation of more welfare programs to win the hearts of the people.
