In Hyderabad, Asaduddin Owaisi, leader of the All India Majlis-e-Ittehadul Muslimeen (AIMIM) and Member of Parliament for Hyderabad, responded to a social media user’s claim that his great grandfather was of Hindu Brahmin descent.
The controversy began when a user on the platform X, formerly known as Twitter, claimed that Farooq Abdullah, Asaduddin Owaisi, and Jinnah’s relatives were originally Hindus. This user went on to say that these individuals represent today’s Muslim community, while also voicing concerns about Hinduphobia.
Owaisi responded on Twitter, saying, “I find it amusing that even when they invent a lineage, Sanghis still need to identify a Brahmin ancestor for me.” He went on to say, “We are all descendants of Adam & Hawa AS.” He went on to say, “As for me, the democratic struggle of Muslims for equal rights and citizenship represents the modern soul of India.” This is hardly a case of ‘Hinduphobia.'”
