Auto Rikshaw drivers JAC demand govt to implement AP’s vahana Mitra scheme

Hyderabad: The Joint Action Committee of Telangana Auto Rikshaw drivers today demanded the state government to implement the Vahana Mitra scheme being implemented in the neighboring Andhra Pradesh in the state and give Rs.10,000 financial assistance to all the auto-rickshaw drivers.

Addressing media persons at the city the Convenor of the JAC Amanullah Khan alleged that the state government was reluctant to implement the scheme.

He said that they would hold a statewide bandh program on October 1, 2020, protesting against the attitude of the state government.

He urged the chief minister of the state to stop the construction of the new secretariat for some time for the fulfillment of their legitimate demands. Referring to the suicide attempt of auto Rikshaw driver Chander at Pragathi Bhavan, he wished that Chander recovered from his injury.

He called upon all the auto-rickshaw drivers of the state to not commit suicide and added that they would anti-suicides day on October 2, and offer chocolates to each other as part of their program. He warned the state government that they would teach a befitting lesson to the state government in the upcoming ghmc elections if it didn’t implement the vahana Mitra scheme in the state.
