B Vinod Kumar Stresses Need for Alternative Crops

Telangana State Planning Commission Deputy Chairman and former MP B Vinod Kumar today stressed the need for encouraging alternative crops like oil palm, cotton, red gram and pulses instead of paddy.

He attended a program of agri doctors at Vishweshwaraiah Bhavan here and released a diary-2022.
On the occasion, Vinod Kumar instructed the agriculture and other wings for effective coordination for alternative crops in the state. Since the Centre is not able to procure the quantities of paddy produced in our state we need to support other crops, he said. Viond Kumar stated that the farm officials should conduct awareness camps to educate and encourage the farmers for alternative crops. He said that the state government plans to reduce the cost of farming and get a more supportive price in the market. The schemes for the farmers will relieve them of loans from outside and related burden.

However now the time has come for alternative crops, he said, adding that pulses, oil palm, commercial crops, red gram, Bengal gram and green gram and others can be taken up by the farmers. The state government will support oil palm cultivation in a big way, he said.
