Bajrang Dal threat to beat up Hindus who visit churches during Christmas

Silchar (Assam):- The Assam police are examining a controversial speech made by a Bajrang Dal leader who threatened to beat Hindus who visit the church during Christmas celebrations.

Cachar district Superintendent of Police Bhanwar Lal Meena said to IANS that “No complaint was lodged about the alleged threat of Bajrang Dal appearing on different platforms. However, we are examining the matter carefully and with all seriousness”.

A media section quoting Cachar district deputy commissioner Keerthi Jalli said that the district administration has asked the police to investigate the controversial speech made by the local Bajrang dal leader who said to beat up Hindus who all are visiting churches during Christmas festivities.

Despite many attempts, deputy commissioner Keerthi Jalli did not receive the calls.

According to various social media posts, Mithun Nath the Bajrang dal in-charge of the Cachar district which is in southern Assam was seen stating”no Hindus will be allowed to visit churches during Christmas”.

“Hindus will be thrashed if they go to the churches during Christmas. I condemn those Hindus who attend the Christmas celebrations. They need to be taught a lesson,” said in a video that flashed on the social media platforms.

Mithun Nath in his speech as per the video said “You open the temple, we will allow to function the church. We welcome that. But if you lock the temple, then we would not allow the church to open,”

People from various sections of society have condemned the threat of Bajrang Dal leaders.

The majority of residents of the three northeastern states – Meghalaya, Nagaland, and Mizoram – are Christians whereas the majority percentage of people in other northeastern states- Assam, Tripura, Manipur, and Arunachal Pradesh are either Hindus, Muslims, or Buddhists with a small population of Christians.
