Bangalore Riots: Maximum punishment for Rioters

Bengaluru city police are meaning to make sure about the greatest discipline conceivable on rioters associated with the recent Bangalore Riots, an authority said on Thursday.

Central Crime Branch (CCB) Deputy Commissioner of Police (DCP) Kuldeep Jain said that “Our main intention is to send them behind bars as long as possible,”

He said the police department will request the court to not permit them outside as releasing them will send a wrong message to the public.

Jain said if these individuals are let out, it will pass on a message that anyone can carry out any wrong doing and effectively evade prison terms.

The DCP said effectively 400 charged have been captured in the mob’s case which shook the city the night of August 11.

He said “We have received a lot of leads and we are continuing our investigation,”  when asked about the angle of terror links of some of the Bangalore rioters.

Naveen, Pulikeshinagar Congress MLA Akhanda Srinivas Murthy’s nephew, keeps on being in prison even as endeavors are being made to deliver him on bail.

On August 11, many individuals went crazy after Naveen posted a deprecatory message via a social media platform. Police turned to terminating to control the crowds, prompting the demise of three youth.

The crowds pelted stones, harmed 60 cops, and submitted destructive incidents and pyro-crime in D.J. Halli, K.G. Halli, Pulikeshinagar, and Kaval Byrasandra zones.

As per the police, small group gathering began showing up at Pulkeshi Nagar MLA Murthy’s home in Kaval Byrasandra at around 8 pm Tuesday, after which hundreds went along with them in a protest outside DJ Halli police headquarters requesting quick activity against the individuals who posted the message via online media, which was purportedly hostile to Islam and its beliefs. More cops were sent in the territory following directions from Home Minister Basavaraj Bommai.
