Bankers and Insurers To Be Given Priority for Covid 19 Vaccination; Centre Writes To State Governments/UTs

Amidst the rising cases of Covid 19, the central government has requested the State governments and the Union Territories to make special arrangements for Covid 19 vaccination for the bankers and insurers.

Central Government Requests State Governments and UTs To Vaccinate Employees On Priority

As per the latest reports, the central government wrote a letter to all the State governments and the UTs to vaccinate the other employees in the financial services.

It includes the employees from the National Payment Corporation of India (NPCI), cash logistic companies, ATM Maintenance personnel, Customer Service Points (CSPs), Cash-in-transit companies, Banking Correspondents (BCs), etc.

The central government in the letter stated that the bankers and the insurers are anxious about the Covid 19 vaccines. So it is important to get them vaccinated at the earliest.

Following this, it is important to have “special dispensation” to ensure that the employees have easy access to the vaccination on a priority basis.

GOI Allows Vaccination For Citizens Above 18 from May 1

The Government of India recently allowed citizens at the age of 18 or above 18 years old to be vaccinated against the coronavirus from May 1. Following this, they announced that the registration for the ones falling under the age group will start at the Arogya Setu app in the CoWin section from April 28.

An official said that they have made changes regarding the age bar within the app and once the government announces the citizens to register, the app will be ready.

Meanwhile, Health Secretary Rajesh Bhushan clarified that the Covid 19 vaccination will not be sold in retail like chemist shops and pharmaceuticals. He said that the Covid 19 vaccination is a part of the National Vaccination Programme. Following this, it will only be available in government-approved hospitals, vaccination centers, and some private hospitals.

The guidelines also mention that the people above the age of 45 who will be receiving their second dose of Covid 19 vaccine (whenever they are due) will be given priority.
