Pfizer Announces Probable Annual Re-Vaccination For Covid 19 Vaccine

Pfizer recently announced that there may be a chance of having to take the third dose of the Pfizer/BioNTech Covid 19 vaccine after 12 months of completing the current vaccine dosage.

People May Need To Get Covid 19 Vaccinated Annually

Albert Bourla, the Chief Executive Officer at Pfizer said that people may need to be vaccinated against the Covid 19 virus annually. He spoke to the sources and said that they still need to see and understand what exactly the sequence of Covid 19 vaccination would be and how often the people would need to continue the vaccination.

He further said that currently the most likable scenario is that there would be chances of people taking a third dose. It could be somewhere between six and 12 months after taking the second dose of the Covid 19 vaccine. There are also chances of an annual re-vaccination. However, all this needs to be confirmed and is under study.

Bourla added that the new variants also play a key role in understanding the need for re-vaccination.

This comes after Pfizer claimed earlier this month that their Covid 19 vaccine was more than 91 percent effective at protecting against Covid 19. It is also effective against 95 percent severe diseases upto six months after the second dose.

The data collected was based on more than 12000 fully vaccinated people. At the same time, the researchers are working towards understanding the duration of protection against the Coronavirus after people have been fully vaccinated.
