Banks of Mir Alam Lake Filled With Fresh Dumping of Debris

Despite the issue being brought to the notice of officials concerned time and again, the dumping of debris and huge boulders on the banks of Historic Mir Alam Lake keep on continue brazenly.

Dumping of trash and a huge amount of debris along with heavy boulders has exponentially increased in recent days on the site. Almost 200 to 300 meters of Lake Bank area, very opposite to Akbari Masjid and Eidgah close to Pillar No. 258 PVNR Expressway, were filled with a huge quontum of debris studded with heavy boulders.

The situation at the site is more pathetic now than earlier where huge amount of debris with heavy boulders are being dumped regularly alongside the garbage. The filth dumping effrontery has turned the lake banking area into a flat surface layer for atleast 300 meters paving way for the land sharks to claim over the land.

Anwar Hussain, a resident of Indra Nagar, said “Lorries filled with soil and boulders keep on dumping the stuff on the lake area while local GHMC officials are fully acquainted with the regular recalcitrance, he said, adding that “The place, where the GHMC erected board once appeared cautioning people against dumping garbage or any other stuff, has now disappeared much to our surprise.”

Deploring the impassive attitude of the officials concerned, Syed Shoukat Ali, a community activist, said, “After the issue of garbage and debris dumping on the lake reported time and again the intensity of filling the area with discarded soil and huge boulders have increased many times during the last two months.”
