Bill Gates to meet KTR to discuss healthcare and infrastructure development in BioAsia

BioAsia, Asia’s largest annual global Biotechnology and Life Sciences event, will feature an enlightening session with Bill Gates, Co-chair, Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation, beginning on February 24. BioAsia, the Government of Telangana’s annual flagship event, has attracted participation from major leaders in the life sciences and healthcare industries over the previous 18 editions.

The highlight of the 2022 edition will be a fireside chat between Industries and Commerce Minister KT Rama Rao and Bill Gates on a variety of topics such as the COVID-19 pandemic, lessons learned over the last two years, emerging healthcare trends, and what can be done to strengthen the global healthcare system in the future.

In addition to discussing lessons learned from the pandemic, Gates will discuss the global partnership’s accomplishments and the path forward. With this year’s topic being ‘Future Ready,’ the focus of the talk will be on the new ideas and capabilities that can equip the globe to be prepared, as well as what role stakeholders such as government, industry, and others can play.

The 19th virtual edition, which will take place on February 24 and 25, will also feature a lineup of speakers, including Alex Gorsky, Executive Chairman of Johnson & Johnson, who will deliver the keynote address. Johnson & Johnson is widely regarded as one of the world’s most inventive and well-managed corporations.

Gorsky also serves on the boards of several well-known worldwide corporations, including Apple and IBM, as well as the Wharton School of Business. He will discuss the impact of the pandemic, supply chain disruptions, the innovation ecosystem and start-ups, and the role of new technologies in healthcare such as AI, ML, Deep Learning, and others.

Geoff Martha

Another notable leader, Geoffrey S. Martha, Chairman and CEO of Medtronic, will offer the keynote presentation. With $29 billion in yearly revenue and over 90,000 workers, Medtronic is the world’s top medical technology firm. Its operations extend to more than 150 nations around the world. Martha will speak to BioAsia participants about global Medtech trends, particularly the role India and Asia may play in global efforts to promote Medtech growth.
