BJP Confusing Farmers, Centre Should Procure Paddy : Kamalakar

Upping the ante ahead of the protests by the TRS leaders across the state, Minister for Civil Supplies Gangula Kamalakar today slammed the Centre for resorting to false politics. The Centre refused to procure Yasangi stocks and the state government will procure monsoon crops.

The Centre was not able to give confidence to the farmers in the states he alleged, Speaking to press persons in Karim Nagar, the minister expressed serious displeasure at the BJP Government for following cheap politics. If they have real commitment the BJP leaders should get an assurance from the center to get both Yasangi and Monsoon crops, he demanded. Else they should stop confusing the farmers and people in the state, he said. The parties seeking to help the farmers should support the protests, he said, adding that the BJP should not misguide the farmers. The state government will procure the stocks with moisture and the farmers should not believe in the BJP protests, he said. In addition to 6663 centers, another 400 centers will be coming up to procure the stocks he said. So far we procured about 5.15 lakh mt stocks and will continue, the minister said. As directed by KCR we procure paddy worth about Rs 20000 cr to Rs 30000 cr and are ready to give the same to FCI after milling, he clarified. He asked Union minister G Kishan Reddy and BJP state president Sanjay to convince the center to get the same.

He expressed dismay saying that the Centre is not picking up paddy stocks from the state as it gets the same from Punjab. How the state BJP leaders will resort to protests in districts asking the state government to procure paddy stocks, the minister retorted. Instead, they can go to Delhi to mount pressure on the Centre to procure our stocks from the state, he demanded.

Stating that all ministers, MLAs, and other leaders will attend protest dharnas in the state on November 12. We will intensify the protests against the Centre in this regard if it fails to respond positively, he warned. The Centre should avoid double standards as the farmers are seeking to clear the stocks from Telangana, Kamalakar said.

He said that they will conduct continuing protests against the Centre on November 12.
The Minister flayed that the center was forgetting its responsibility to clear stocks as FCI said in written, he lamented. The Centre should ask the officials concerned to procure stocks, he said, adding that TRS Supremo and Chief Minister K Chandrasekhar Rao may participate in dharna in the national capital. Taking a call from KCR all the Ministers and elected representatives will attend protests on November 12, the Minister added.
