BJP stages protest against the addition of Urdu in TSPSC exams

As per the latest report, members of the Bharatiya Janata Yuva Morcha (BJYM) of the Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) protested at the district collectorate in Hyderabad in opposition to the Telangana government’s decision to allow candidates applying for Group I examinations of the Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) to answer in Urdu besides English and Telugu.

Workers of the party have called on the state government to reverse its decision to conduct group-1 exams in Urdu. Their claim was that the state government was under pressure from its ally, the AIMIM party, to conduct the exams in Urdu, and that was clearly a case of ‘favouritism’ toward one section of society.

Furthermore, they alleged that the move would jeopardize Hindus’ chances of getting Group-I posts.

As a result of the Urdu inclusion in the Group I exams, the BJP and the ruling TRS are involved in a heated debate. Bandi Sanjay, the BJP’s state president in Karimnagar, had also promised that if BJP wins power, their government will remove candidates who chose Urdu as their medium.

KTR, Telangana’s Minister for IT and Industries, responded to the saffron party’s demands on Sunday and referred to Urdu as an official language recognized by the Indian constitution. He asked what was wrong with holding Telangana State Public Service Commission (TSPSC) exams in Urdu.

BJP general secretary D. Pradeep Kumar, spokesperson N V Subash, and BJYM State president Bhanu Prakash said a few days ago while speaking to the media, that Chief Minister K Chandrashekar Rao was attempting to restore the Nizam culture in the State by holding group-1 exams in Urdu. They argued that KCR had disrespected BR Ambedkar’s Indian constitution.

They referred to Urdu as a language associated with religion and added that the usage of Urdu would cause injustice to the unemployed youth in the state
