BJP victimising the media, says CPI

Hyderabad: The two-day meeting of the CPI National Executive, held in party headquarters, Ajoy Bhavan in New Delhi on August 4 and 5, deplored victimisation and harassment of media personnel for their being forthright and objective in reporting events of governance of RSS-controlled BJP government at the Centre led by Narendra Modi.

In a release here today, the CPI said the latest victims of RSS-BJP triggered attacks are sacked journalists Punya Prasson Bajpai, Abhisar Sharma and Miliand Khandekar. This action against ABP journalists was not an isolated event. RSS-BJP government was deliberately harassing and pressurizing the media.

The National Executive also condemned the mass rape at a shelter home in Muzaffurpur, Bihar. Terming it as a national shame, the CPI demanded immediate resignation of Nitish Kumar led JDU-BJP government in Bihar. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also should accept moral responsibility for the repeated heinous crime committed on adolescent girls. The Nitish Kumar led JDU-BJP government is not only turning a blind eye to the crime but is also getting names of some criminals dropped from the FIR. The Party demands arrest of all accused and their accomplices, give proper compensation to the victims and free education till they become suitably skilled for a proper employment. The Party also wants the state government to give them preference in government jobs.

The meeting was presided over by Munin Mohanta, Assam State Council Secretary.(NSS)
