BRS Revives Unmet Promises Ahead of Modi’s Visit to Telangana

The state’s governing Bharat Rashtra Samithi (BRS) has revived three key unmet promises and challenged Prime Minister Narendra Modi to address them as he prepares for his second visit to Telangana in three days.

In a post on the social networking site X, BRS working President K.T. Rama Rao asked the Prime Minister three important questions: “What about our three main guarantees…?” When will our Kazipet coach plant open its doors? When will our steel mill in Bayyaram be completed? When will our Palamuru initiative be given national recognition?”

Despite the Prime Minister’s numerous visits, KTR noted that the pledges made at the state’s split have yet to be fulfilled. He further stated that failing to deliver on these promises might lead to the BJP losing ground in the next Telangana Assembly elections, perhaps resulting to deposit forfeitures in 100 seats.

The BRS leader expressed disappointment that, even after a decade, the federal government had not kept its promises. Using Telugu rhyming phrases, he questioned when Modi’s heart will soften, shedding any prejudices towards Telangana.

KTR accused the Prime Minister of not only stalling the coach factory and steel plant, but also of abandoning the Information Technology and Investment Region (ITIR) project, which had the potential to produce hundreds of thousands of employment. He further claimed that Modi had broken his pledge to give the irrigation project national status.

KTR emphasized the larger impact, claiming that unmet promises had let down not only Telangana’s four crore citizens, but also 140 crore Indians. He reminded Modi of his promises to quadruple farmers’ income, build a house for every family by 2022, create two crore jobs yearly, and keep fuel costs under control.

The BRS leader finished by implying that Modi’s recent announcement of the National Turmeric Board, similar to the Women’s Reservation, looked to be politically driven in front of the elections.
