Visakhapatnam: Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) has registered a case against the controversial anesthetist of the state Dr. Sudhakar, who is posted at Narsipatnam area hospital. It said that the case was booked against the doctor on the basis of a complaint by police constable Velagala Venkata Ramana. It also said that the case was booked against the doctor in compliance with the directions issued by the apex court of the state.   The fourth town police of the city booked a criminal case against Dr. Sudhakar under sections 353, 427 and 506 of IPC on May 16 last month on the allegations of misbehaving with police and preventing them from discharging their duties on the national highway.

However,  Sudhakar alleged that the police misbehaved with him during his arrest prompting different civil society organizations and political party leaders to approach the high court of the state. After hearing the case, a division bench of the high court had issued orders to the CBI to inquire into the issue.  In its FIR filed against Sudhakar, the CBI had alleged that the doctor had not only behaved in a silly manner but also tried to criminally  intimidate the police in order to prevent them from discharging their duties.  Dr. Sudhakar has been lodged at the city’s mental hospital since May 16.
