Centre taking steps to prevent Cyber crimes: Kishan

Hyderabad: The Institute of Engineers Telangana chapter organized a two day National Seminar on ‘Cyber Security and Image Processing” inaugurated by Union Minister of State for Home G. Kishen Reddy today.  He said they were taking effective steps to prevent cyber crimes in the country. Safety, security and women protection were their top priorities in the country, he said, adding that they have also strengthened security at the international border with the use of science & technology.

Addressing the conference held here, Kishan Reddy said they were collecting details about cyber criminals across the country. He said they have also linked all the police stations in the country with the server of the Union government except Bihar. He said there was a need to use smart cards by the people due to the increase in the number of cyber crimes. The Union minister said a lot of details need to be learned about cyber security and cyber terrorism in the country.

Reddy also said that women safety is top priority of the government and Ministry of Home Affairs set up a new women safety division in 2018 to strengthen the measures and safety of women. For prevention of cyber crimes against women, the  govt has taken various steps such as cyber crime prevention against the women and child scheme, an important initiative of the Ministry of Home Affairs.

‘Our focus is on increased use of Information Technology in criminal justice system and enabling a supporting eco system for forensic sciences and criminal records. We have initiated to set up nationwide emergency response system to respond to the needs of women and distressed across the country, dept of telecommunications has already allocated an emergency number 112 for this system’, the Minister added.

In different states, police has launched an application called “Himmat” which receives digital signals from distressed women users of mobile phones.

 Reddy said the Ministry of Home Affairs was taking up ‘smart fencing’ on the Indo-Pak border and Indo–Tibet border. “Then, any activity at the border can be monitored from North Block in New Delhi and accordingly immediate action can be initiated,” he said.

While discussing about the tackling of natural disasters, he said special efforts are made to make best use of expertise available in space science , science and technology, meteorology, earth science and seismology, not only in our country but worldwide to save people from natural disasters. Our govt  has liberalized the visa process in India and E-Visa has been gained considerable popularity.

Reddy said that “I am confident that many useful innovation ideas would come during this discussions in this seminar which would be beneficial to the stake holders as well as the framing the policies of different state governments and central government”.

Anjani Kumar, Commissioner of Police, Hyderabad, Dr. B. Sriram Chief Executive Officer Cyber Security Centre for Excellence DSCI New Delhi attended the seminar and addressed. Dr. G. Rameshwar Rao Chairman Institute of Engineers India (IEI) Telangana State Chapter, K. Subbi Reddy, Member IEI were also present on the occasion. (NSS)
