Chada writes to Kishan Reddy to help release grant-in-aid to Special School for Mentally Retarded

Hyderabad: State CPI secretary and Chairman of Karimnagar District Freedom Fighters Trust Chada Venkat Reddy on Wednesday wrote a letter to Union Minister of State for Home G Kishan Reddy urging him to help sanction grant-in-aid for Special School-cum-Vocational Training Center for Mentally Retarded for the year 2018-19 and second installment for the year 2017-18.

Chada Venkat Reddy stated that the school was started by Karimnagar District Freedom Fighters’ Trust in 1989. The school was shifted to its own building in 2005 and running the school with 17 classrooms and a separate hostel building to accommodate residential students. He said the Special School was running in financial difficulties due to the non-release of funds by the Union Ministry of Social Justice & Empowerment, Department of Empowerment of Persons with Disabilities under Deen Dayal Disabled Rehabilitation Scheme.

Venkat Reddy explained that during 2017-18 year, the school was sanctioned Rs 17,34,255 from the Union Government but the school received Rs 8,67,128 so  far as first installment and second installment of Rs 8,67,127 is yet to be  received. He further stated that though they submitted proposals for Rs 79,43,420 for the year 2018-19, they have not received the grant so far.

Venkat Reddy urged Kishan Reddy to see that the grant-in-aid second installment for the year 2017-18 and amount of 2018-19 be sanctioned to Special School at the earliest.(NSS)
