Chandrayanagutta flyover scheduled to be completed by June

It is expected that the Chandrayangutta flyover expansion on NH-44 will be completed by the end of June.

Since the start of the SRDP in 2018, the Rs 47 crore project for Falaknuma has been delayed numerous times due to the COVID-19 pandemic, the 2020 floods, and other circumstances.

This results in traffic jams along the entire route between Chandrayangutta old police station road and Falaknuma road.

As per GHMC sources, the final stage of construction towards Hafeez Baba Nagar is still being delayed because the road needs to be connected.

“We plan to launch it by the first week of July, and we’re working in a warlike manner.”

Having opened the Abdul Kalam flyover near the Owaisi Hospital intersection, the whole route from Santosh Nagar to Chandrayangutta has already been improved. “We will notice a significant improvement when this one is in place,” a senior engineer told the Times Of India (TOI).

The present flyover is 480 metres long and will be extended by 500 metres as well as the road expansion. “The flyover was approved by the standing committee in 2018 and was meant to be completed by the earlier date of 2019,” said Mohammed Rizwan, a civic leader and local resident.

As a result of the 500-metre extension, the GHMC is hopeful that commuters will enjoy a smooth ride and accidents will be avoided as well.

This issue was compounded by the ineffective coordination of moving water, sewage pipes, as well as electric cables and poles between HMWSSB and TSSPDCL. He added, “We hope the deadline won’t be pushed back again.”

For a few years now, Chandrarayangutta road has become increasingly congested. Construction of the flyover is creating a traffic snarl on National Highway 44 due to the slow pace of the work.

Since the construction has been ongoing for a really long time, commuters say that the traffic flow has been affected severely.
