Chargesheet Filed in Suicide Case of Medical Postgraduate Student in Warangal

A chargesheet has been filed in a special SC/ST court in Warangal in connection with the suicide of a lady medical postgraduate student. The chargesheet was submitted against Dr. M.A. Saif, a doctor in the Department of Anaesthesia at Kakatiya Medical College in Warangal. He is accused of inciting the young doctor, who was his junior, to commit suicide on February 22. The chargesheet includes provisions from the Indian Penal Code, the Telangana Prohibition of Ragging Act, and the Schedule Caste/Schedule Tribe (Prevention of Atrocities) Act.

The inquiry, directed by Warangal Assistant Commissioner of Police Bonala Kishan, included the questioning of 70 witnesses as well as the examination of numerous sources, including scientific, medical, and forensic evidence. During the investigation, the accused’s and the deceased doctor’s mobile phones were also investigated.

After allegedly being harassed by her senior, the first-year postgraduate student attempted suicide at a state-run hospital in Warangal. On February 26, she died while receiving treatment at the NIMS hospital in Hyderabad. The senior student, a male doctor, was detained on February 24 and released on bond in April.
