Congo Reports 11 Ebola Cases, 6 Deaths: WHO

In the latest update from the northeastern province of North Kivu in December Republic of the Congo (DRC) has reported 11 cases of the Ebola virus. The World Health Organization said that this comes after 5 months of the first outbreak.

11 Cases Of Ebola Reported With Six Deaths

As of November 3, the WHO’s regional office for Africa informed on late Friday that 11 Ebola cases were reported with six deaths. This comes after a 2-year-old boy was also confirmed of Ebola case and died on October 6.

They further added that 604 people were exposed to the virus.

DRC Declared End For 12th Ebola Outbreak In May 2021

On Thursday afternoon, the two first patients were cured of the Ebola virus and were discharged from the local Ebola Treatment Center since the resurgence of the virus as declared by the DRC’s health ministry on October 8 in the North Kivu province.

As per the Chief Medical Officer of North Kivu’s Beni area, Michel Tosalisana, the patients are a couple that are admitted in the ETC soon after the virus resurfaced in the region.
This comes after, the DRC officially declared the end of the 12th Ebola outbreak in North Kivu province in May this year.
