Congress condemns police inaction in Medipally real estate mafia attack

Hyderabad: Telangana Pradesh Congress Committee Treasurer Gudur Narayana Reddy has strongly condemned the State Police for not taking any action against the TRS corporator’s husband and his henchmen who brutally attacked a local resident in full public view in Medipally town.

Narayana Reddy, in a media statement on Tuesday, said that the video of TRS Corporator’s husband Sridhar Goud and his gang attacking a local resident, Purender Reddy, which went viral on social media clearly shows the brutality and fearlessness with which they carried out the attack. They did not even listen to the minor boy who pleaded with them to spare their father. He said it would not be wrong if such anti-social elements with no signs of humanity were eliminated in an encounter.

The Congress leader said that despite the video of the attack going viral on social media, the State Police took no action against TRS leader Sridhar Goud and his men. He said the victim was attacked for allegedly questioning the legitimacy of a few real estate transactions in the area. He strongly condemned the inaction of local police and asked whether they would’ve reacted in a similar manner if the victim was a relative or kin of the Home Minister or some senior police official.

Narayana Reddy alleged that Telangana Police was encouraging rowdyism by not taking any action against those indulging in violence targeting innocent people to instill fear in the entire society. He demanded that the State Government order a probe into the incident and register a case for Attempt to Murder, Criminal Intimidation, and other relevant sections of IPC.

The Congress leader informed Additional DGP (Law & Order) Jithender on WhatsApp about the incident and demanded a probe to check the nexus between the local police and real estate mafia led by TRS leader in Medipally town. He also forwarded the video clipping of the brutal attack to Mr. Jithender. He warned that the Congress party would organize a massive protests if no action is taken in this case.
