Congress Conducts Mock Session Outside Kerala Assembly Against CM’s Name In Gold Smuggling Case

In the latest update, the Congress-led opposition recently staged a mock session outside the main gate of the Assembly in Kerala. This comes after they were denied permission to seek leave for an adjournment motion to demand the resignation of the Kerala Chief Minister Pinarayi Vijayan.

Kerala CM Accused In Gold Smuggling Case, Congress Demands Resignation

The prime accused in the gold smuggling case, Swapna Suresh has claimed that a parcel of unfamiliar money was shipped off Vijayan while he was on a visit to the UAE in 2017, through a representative of its Consul General’s office.
Senior administrator P.T. Thomas looked for leave for the movement, however Speaker M.B. Rajesh said since the matter is sub-judice it can’t be allowed to move this.
Following this, an irate resistance chose to blacklist the day’s meeting and marched out of the house and walked to the front door of the Kerala Assembly.
Before the get-together, seats were set and all the resistance lawmakers sat and Thomas called attention to the fact that the subtleties of the job of Vijayan has now turned out in the show cause notice given by the Customs to Swapna and others blamed on the issue for an unlawful fare of dollars abroad.

Congress Defends Boycotting The House

Meanwhile, the leader of Opposition VD Satheesan said that not allowing the opposition to even present the leave for the adjournment in the house is strange.
He recalled a few years back when Vijayan was demanding the resignation of the CM Oommen Chandy during the solar scam. However, when the tables have turned and allegations are being raised in the dollar, Vijayan has taken cover.
“This is in no way acceptable and hence we have no other way but to boycott the house,” said Satheesan. With the opposition up in arms and the present assembly session to end on Friday, there could be more action from the opposition.
