Congress continues to be main rival in Telangana: KCR

While the BRS is pleased with the defeat of the BJP in the Karnataka Assembly elections, it is disappointed with the performance of the Janata Dal(S) led by HD Kumaraswamy. In comparison to the previous elections, the JD(S) had lost 18 seats.

Reviewing the Karnataka election scenario with some available senior leaders, KCR stated clearly that in Telangana, Congress remains their main rival and warned them to be cautious about their moves. Their excitement after winning in Karnataka may cause them to be aggressive in the state. He told the party leaders that the BRS needed to effectively counter their campaign.

He stated that the Karnataka results show a clear anti-BJP wave, which party workers should utilise it to their best advantage. At the same time, they should put a stop to any possible Congress surge in Telangana. According to sources, KCR expected his political ally JD(S) to emerge as a king maker and play a key role in the formation of the new Karnataka government.

KCR told the party leaders that there was a good chance that the number of increase in the number of political tourism by Congress leaders from Delhi including Priyanka Gandhi and Rahul Gandhi. From now on, the party should be poll ready and thwart any attempts by Congress to gain an advantage from its victory in the neighboring state.

Party sources said that KCR will meet with JD(S) leaders soon to discuss the possibility of the BRS running in the Lok Sabha elections scheduled to be held in May 2024 with the support of Janata Dal party.
